A Loan Signing Agent, also known as a Certified Notary Signing Agent (NSA), is a notary specifically trained to facilitate mortgage closings. Mortgage lenders, title firms, and escrow companies use loan signing agents to make loan closings as convenient as possible for borrowers by allowing borrowers to sign their documents in the comfort of their own homes or offices and at a time convenient to the borrower. The signing agent notary verifies the signers’ identification, has the borrowers take an oath or make an affirmation, facilitates the signing of the loan documents, collects checks and other documents required by the lender in order for the loan to close, and ensures that the complete loan package is returned to the lender/title company as directed.
